Teachers

Our staff consists of our lead teacher, Jo Smetak, and our assistant teacher Julia Briggs.

Mrs. Jo has a masters Degree in English, and holds both a CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential, and a level 6 Maryland Child Care Credential. She has 26 years of training and experience in early child care and education, and has been at RBCN for 18 years. She is a speaker, writer and trainer for the Howard County Child Care Resource center, serves on the Howard County Kindergarten Transition Work Group, and is actively engaged in parent training for RBCN and other local organizations. She brings a high degree of professionalism to the school and helps to ensure that our program meets state and national standards for excellence in the early childhood field.

Mrs. Julia is our assistant teacher here at RBCN.  She is fluent in French and worked as a first grade teacher in a French immersion program in Anne Arundel County Public Schools from 1996-1999.  She worked as a staff member and French teacher for ages 2-4 at Little Stukeley Montessori school in the UK from 2000-2003.  Mrs. Julia has been an RBCN parent since her return to Maryland and is a great addition to our teaching team.
